Do You Care?

Can you distinguish right from wrong?
You really think the world 's a song
Of happy living harmony?
Repressing thoughts of agony
We know it happens everywhere,
But all we do is stop and stare.
Statues crumble at your door,
But it's so easy to ignore.
"Look out for number one" they say
And realize to my dismay
That one is put above the masses
This one percent, we fill their glasses
We breathe in all these toxic gasses
Oceans swell with all our plastics
Get paid off with immoral tactics
Shut our eyes and pay our taxes

The proof is there,
This is wrong, do you care?

This plague of willful ignorance
Building up your tolerance
"This commercial is so sad"
"Oh it makes me feel so bad"
So feel, and act on feelings felt
While beloved polar ice does melt
Reach out with helping hands
Revive our devastated lands
It's not your money you should give
But care about the life you live
Care so much that you see the truth
And pass it on to all the youth
No land is one man's property
But, rather, opportunity
To share and grow
And reap what's sown
To appreciate and unify
From the water to the sky
It is a gift
For when we die
There is a shift

The youth will have their turn
Borrowed to the next one born

Leading by example
Is to light a brilliant candle
Which only grows it's light
When others join it's might

Would not the time be now?
When there is beauty in the "How?"
The destruction of Earth's wonders
Closed-minded and short-sighted plunders
This earth bestowed to each of us
The only planet we can trust
The love for one
AND one for all
Forsaken
As these statues fall
We ingest bias information
We misplace our dedication

When the solution is so clear
Why indulge in a culture of fear?
Afraid to push for what is right
Fear of losing an honorable fight

One could do a little research
And though what one finds may hurt
It will never be too late
To help fix a few mistakes
Prevention is another key
It just starts with one, you see
There is beauty in the "How"
One could even start right now

A push for the seed
Instead of the greed
When time is our gift
And there will be a shift
Whether we like it or not
We would know, if we gave it a shot
And just grow
And just go
It would show
More would see, more would know
We could spread so much care
It's not enough to be aware
